Wreck it

As I mentioned back in my blog, Bake it, to make it, I often bake for gifts.

Yesterday was one of my friends from works birthday so I decided to make some cookies. With one of his favourite movies being ‘Wreck-it Ralph’ and because he kind of looks a bit like Ralph I decided the best present would be Wreck-it Ralph cookies!

Carly's Wreck-it Ralph cookies

Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  4. Roll dough into a ball and cover in cling film. Place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out dough with a rolling pin and use a heart cookie cutter. Place hearts onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  7. Let stand on cookie sheets two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
  8. Once cooled

Sugar Cookie Icing

Ingredients
  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • Blue food colouring
Method
  1. In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup.
  2. Divide into separate bowls, and add blue food colouring to one of the bowls to desired intensity. Paint the cookies with the blue icing with a brush.
  3. Decorate with sprinkles and mini M&Ms, using a piping bag to write with the white icing.

I’m really happy with how they turned out. Not sure how they tasted but they looked good. *smiles*
