After my glowing review of the Old Packhorse (Blogpost: The Old Packhorse) I thought it was only right that I check out some more of the pubs in Chiswick. It helps that the guys from work do love a pub lunch!
So this time it is The Bollo House, affectionately known to the locals as ‘The Bollo’
The Bollo is a bit of a hidden gem in Chiswick as it’s not near the station or on the high road but locals know it and they know it well.
It’s hard to review the food at the Bollo as the menu is seasonal and constantly changing, sometimes even weekly but one thing you can guarantee is that the food is always good because it’s so fresh. The staff are lovely to both their regulars and the newbies which is a plus.
For lunch I had pea and broad bean ricotta pasta with grilled tomatoes. I’m not vegetarian but I often get vegetarian dishes because if they are done well they are sooo good and this was one of those times.
The Bollo is another place that is known for its beverages. They have a great cask range, some quirky draught beers and of course brilliant wines. Not to mention a pretty awesome outside terrace so with the 'out of the ordinary' British sunshine we have been getting, it was a great place to be.
So check it out if you keen for some more good pub eats in the Chiswick area.

Interesting fact on The Bollo:
There is a pineapple on the sign and for ages we had no idea why so we did some research.
So presumably Bollo brook and consequently Bollo Lane, was once a local pineapple growing area! Who’d have known!
Randomly also there is a connection between the Cantonese words for Pineapple being Boh Loh. Random.
